Overview
When a rubber part cracks, leaks, hardens, or falls apart, failure analysis figures out the real reason. The point isn't just to explain the failure, it's to recommend a fix, whether that's a different material, a design change, or a process correction.
Intake & service history
What we ask for up front: the application, service conditions, time to failure, and what changed. Good history speeds up root-cause work considerably.
Analytical methods
- Composition checks against the original spec
- Hardness and property mapping across the part
- Thermal and chemical analysis for degradation
- Comparison to a known-good reference part
Root-cause determination
A clear statement of the most probable cause, supported by the evidence gathered.
Corrective recommendations
Actionable next steps: material substitution, compound adjustment, design guidance, or process changes, and how CRC can implement them.
Submit the sample with its service history and we'll scope a failure analysis.
